The far-reaching effects of toddy

A few days ago, a friend posted on a group that we are both part of, a video that was accompanied by this message:

Telangana Chief Minister live in assembly fully drunk. Shameful.

The video:

Whether KCR was actually drunk or not is immaterial when someone somewhere goes to such lengths to slow down the video to make it sound like he's drunk. Look at the people behind him in the video - their movements are slow too.

I'm beginning to suspect that Whatsapp is where old jokes go to die. Did this start as a joke? Probably. One of those juvenile things that kids do for a few laughs - imitate a drunk person or make someone appear drunk. But here's another thing to ponder about - when you slow the speech down, it doesn't sound like drunk-speak, but a near brilliant likeness of Dory speaking 'whale' in Finding Nemo.

The problem I think is this - it probably started out being passed around as a joke, but is past its prime and being believed to be real. In fact, my friend shared it because it was apparently all over the Telugu news. If people receiving this believe this real, it is a reflection of their gullibility, but if media houses are telecasting this slowed-down version, it is irresponsible journalism. Unless it comes with a note mentioning it to be a caricature, and not real. And that mention of 'Made with Kine Master' on the screen is worth exploring too.

The exact speech is here posted below.  This is an excerpt of KCR's speech on toddy as a cure for cancer. (I'm not getting into the content of his speech other than to make the comparison with the other video). You don't have to understand Telugu to compare the two videos, just basic listening skills will do.

In case you suspect that this one is fast forwarded, take a look at people behind him and their movements. This seems to be KCR's usual speed of speech when you compare his other speeches from different sources. This video picks up a few seconds later from the place the other one begins.

I really don't think toddy is so potent that it can reduce someone who even speaks on the subject, to a state of slow-mo slurring.

Whaaaaat doooo youuuu thiiiiink?
